Here are the rules for the use of 'some' and 'any' in positive and negative sentences, as well as in questions. Notice that 'some' and 'any' are used for both countable and uncountable (non count) nouns. Once you have studied the rules, take the follow up quiz to check your understanding.

Words with Some

Words such as 'somebody', 'something', 'somewhere' which include 'some' follow the same rules. Use 'some' words - somebody, someone, somewhere and something - in positive sentences.
类似于somebody 、something 、somewhere等含有some的词语也遵循相同的规则。含有some的词语——somebody、someone、somewhere和something一般用于肯定句。
He lives somewhere near here.

He needs something to eat.

含有any的词语
Words with 'any' such as: 'anybody', 'anyone', 'anywhere' and 'anything' follow the same rule and are used in negative sentences or questions.
含有any的词语，例如anybody、anyone和anything也遵循相同的规则，用于否定句或疑问句中。
Do you know anything about that boy?
你知道关于那个男孩的事吗？
Have you spoken to anyone about the problem?

She doesn't have anywhere to go.

any的用法：5
any是一个限定词，常用于表示模糊的，不确定的数量或数字，适合用于不强调how many/much的表达时，常以问句或否定句的形式出现；
any属于复合词，常与其他单词搭配成一个词，如anybody, anything, anyhow,anywhere等，有时候要把any和其搭配的词分开来写，如any way，不习惯用anyway来表达；
any，not any，和no的比较：any本身没有否定的意思，只有在和not连用时，才表示否定。no和not any意思相同，但是表达的程度更深。
She's unhappy because she hasn't got any friends.
She's got no friends.
注意否定句中，any和every的意思，有时意思不同。有时候意思相同。
否定词后接any时指完全否定，因此如果只要表达部分否定，不用any，用some。
I do not know any of them.
我对他们一个也不认识。
I do not know some of them.
我对他们有几个不认识。
通常不习惯把any用在主语里而在谓语里用否定词，例：可以说No man can do it，但不可说Any man cannot do it;
any不能指两个人或物中间的任何一个，即不能说any of my two brothers ，而是说either of my two brothers;
the+词的最高级+of any ...是一个普通结构，但不合理。
He is the most handsome of any man I know.
最好改为He is the most handsome of all men I know.
