Automobiles

Automobiles, as a product of modern civilization, have been playing a vital part in the daily activities of human society. Industry needs automobiles for farming as well as transportation. Every day, automobiles drive people to and from work. On weekends automobiles take families for joyful outings. And during holiday seasons, automobiles fill the highways everywhere, even in remote areas. It could be said that the wheels of automobiles move society forward.

But automobiles have also given rise to a series of problems. For example, cities are overcrowded with automobiles. They create a lot of noise and traffic accidents which disable(伤残) or kill many people each year. Worst of all perhaps is the air pollution caused by the exhaust gases produced by automobiles. Some of the gases are highly toxic(有毒的) and a serious health hazard.

In most schools and colleges the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject. Although it does the job quite efficiently， its side effects are also enormous.

The most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. As the examination score is the only criterion for his academic performance， a student is driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively. Examinations do not motivate a student to seek more knowledge， but to restrict his reading； they do not enable him to study consistently throughout the semester， but to induce cramming during exam week. Examinations also lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers themselves are often judged by examination results， they are often judged by examination results， they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. Pehaps you will beat your rival obtaining your job which you are satisfied with by saying fluent English. Lastly, China is expericining reform and opening-up. Many foreigners come into China. If you want to communicate with them,you had to grasp spoken English well. All these points are indispensable to holding spoken English test.

Some people ，however, take a different attitude. Spoken English test is regarded as being unnecessary. For one thing, they think China has not a good language circumstance to practice spoken English. For another, In daily life, most of us have a touch with Chinese. It is unnecessary for us to communicate with each other in using English.

As far as I am concerned, I am in favor of holding spoken English test, which will benifit students forever. If you can say English fluently,you will pround of yourself. So I decide to study spoken English hard and grasp every opportunities to practice my spoken English.
